Jackie Keel, Student Intern

Jackie Keel (she/they) is in her final year at the University of Utah’s Master of Social Work program. They have worked for the Department of Health and Human Services in a variety of positions for the last decade serving youth and emerging adults, where they focused on important policy initiatives to keep kids out of the juvenile justice system.

Jackie is a combat veteran from the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” era as a member of the LGBTQIA2S+ community, who is passionate about reducing stigma, prejudice, and discrimination for underserved and marginalized populations. They use a trauma-focused affirmative approach, relying on the strengths and expertise of the people they work with and they use elements of DBT, TF-CBT, and Mindfulness as part of their practice. She lives with her wife and two dogs, Einstein and Ginger in Salt Lake City.
