Bailey Baird, Student Intern

Bailey (they/them) is currently in their last year of the Master of Social Work Program that they will graduate from in May 2025. In their undergraduate program they interned at the Utah State Hospital working on their Forensic unit and assisting patients with gaining competency. In their professional career they are currently working as a case manager at Utah Valley University, but worked in the LGBTQ+ student services for 2 years prior to that. They created UVU's multilevel Safe Zone Training that teaches staff, faculty, and students about the LGBTQ+ community and how to be advocates and allies. They are on Utah's System of Higher Education LGBTQ+ coalition as well as Equality Utah's education committee. In these roles, they work to advocate for the LGBTQ+ community in higher education.

They have experience working with LGBTQ+  young adults and college students. They prioritize creating a safe and welcoming environment where clients feel comfortable and at ease. There will be no judgements in their office and it will be a place to authentically be yourself. They believe therapy is collaborative and they focus on a strengths-based approach. They believe that each person has the power within themselves to heal, and their purpose is to help clients access that power. In their sessions you will have the power to guide what feels right for you in all areas.

They have extensive experience working with the LGBTQ+ community and their families, neurodivergent individuals, those going through faith transitions, and boundary setting. They believe in helping clients find ways to better their lives in the ways they want to by providing the tools needed to achieve the goals we set together. Their role is to support you with empathy and respect. It is important to me that everyone I work with feels accepted and heard in our sessions. They prioritize creating a space where clients feel valued and cared for. They understand that it can be difficult to reach out for support and help and because of this they make sure to always respond with compassion and kindness.
