Intersex Awareness Day

Many of us know about the harms of LGBTQ+ youth “conversion therapy.” But did you know about the physical, surgical harms faced by intersex youth?

Some doctors still believe it is okay to permanently change the genitalia and other sex traits of intersex children by recommending unnecessary surgeries to parents. This is connected to a historical belief that changing intersex bodies will stop kids from growing up gay or transgender. All this month, interACT Youth advocates have been sharing their #MyIntersexBody stories.

We at Flourish Therapy are committed to supporting all LGBTQIA+ individuals in choosing what is best for themselves. Join us today in celebrating Intersex Awareness Day, and visit bit.ly/IAday19 for a list of 26 things, big and small, you can do to be an ally for intersex people.
