Ways to Support the Trans Community in 2025
Supporting the trans community goes beyond acknowledgment and certainly beyond one day—it requires active participation in creating a world where trans individuals feel safe, valued, and affirmed. Mental health plays a crucial role in this, as transgender individuals often face higher rates of anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation due to systemic discrimination, lack of access to care, and societal stigma.
Here’s how allies can help:
Support Trans Affirming Organizations: Donate to, volunteer with, or follow groups on social media that support trans communities.
Challenge Misinformation: Speak up against transphobic narratives and educate others about the importance of trans affirming care.
Show Up for Community Events: Attend pride events, Trans Day of Visibility gatherings, and fundraisers that uplift trans people.
Practice Everyday Acts of Allyship: Small, consistent actions—like normalizing pronoun sharing, correcting misgendering, and supporting trans businesses—can help reduce stigma and create affirming environments.
Stay Informed: keep up on the latest bills and let your representatives know how you feel about an issue. Advocacy for the win!

Mahalia Lotz Speaks On Trans Visibility-Student Intern at Flourish Therapy
March 18, 2025
“Visibility without power leads to violence, so we all have a responsibility to use the power we have to help trans people have more safety when they are visible.
Sometimes visibility is a choice, and sometimes it isn't. Often for trans people, choosing visibility means knowing you're less safe, and having to make choices when you're facing threats of violence is an awful, coercive position to be in. Each one of us can do something to help make this world safer for trans people so that they have more choices that don't involve risking being violently targeted.
It's up to us to point it out when the law and policies meant to protect trans people aren't working. It's up to us to demand that they're enforced and to insist that trans people deserve better.
It's also up to us to hold our neighbors, friends, and family accountable. We can educate ourselves and the people around us to notice transphobia and adjust our words and behaviors. And for those who are unwilling to receive education or change their transphobic words or behaviors, we can respond in ways that make it difficult, embarrassing, unpopular, and uncomfortable to be transphobic. We are powerful.”
Purchasing a TDOV Flag
To display a Trans Pride flag in support of the community, you can participate in Project Rainbow's flag campaigns. For a donation, they will place a flag at your home or business during significant events like Transgender Day of Visibility (March 31), Pride Month (June), and Transgender Awareness Week (November). This initiative not only increases visibility but also raises funds to support LGBTQ+ causes in Utah.
Celebrating TDOV
Join a vibrant network of organizations hosting a TDOV event that fosters community, uplifts queer artists, and creates space for healing, connection, and celebration with fellow trans friends.
Hear From Project Rainbow:
“Being in community, not just proximity, with others is so important right now. We are excited to host our first TDOV Community Celebration where over 50 community partners are standing with us and wanting to improve their cultural competence despite efforts to erase us from public life. We are organizing this event as a coalition of amazing organizations like SLC Pride, Nuanua Collective, and Advocates 4 Trans Equality (A4TE) to promote community care and connection. All are invited to this free event! “
