Jen Lindstrand, ACMHC
Hi, my name is Jen, and I work with clients on telehealth who reside in Utah and Oregon here at Flourish Therapy Inc. I am licensed as an associate clinical mental health counselor in the state of Utah and as a professional counselor associate in the state of Oregon.
I work on telehealth typically between 7am-4pm mountain time with teens, young adults, and adults. As a therapist, I take a holistic, whole person approach and I believe in centering my clients lived experience. I lead with compassion, respect, and the belief that all humans have limitless potential. As a therapist, it is extremely important to me to create a warm, safe, and welcoming space where you feel you can be your most authentic self.
As an integrative therapist, I pull from therapeutic modalities that I believe will best help you reach your goals in therapy. Often, I am using some combination of narrative therapy, psychodynamic theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, feminist theories, liberation psychology, positive psychology, mindfulness, and somatic work. I mostly work with trauma, PTSD and C-PTSD, abusive environments, boundaries and healthy relationships, various personality disorders, dissociative disorders, co-occurring mental health disorders, and complex mental health disorders. I also have experience with adoption, trauma and identity conflicts related to adoption, substance use, disordered eating, and emotionally, physically, and psychologically abusive environments.
I graduated from New York University with my masters degree in mental health counseling and I am currently training with the Beck Institute to become a Beck Institute CBT Certified Clinician. I also have training in narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, emotionally focused therapy, and a variety of PTSD and trauma related treatments. Beyond my clinical training, I graduated from Northwestern University with a masters degree in public policy and global health, have taken masters level course work in anti-human trafficking and exploitation, forensic psychology, and victimology in Boston, completed a post-bachelor's degree in marketing from UCLA, and have a bachelor of science degree with majors in psychology, social science broad field, and business administration.
I grew up in Wisconsin and over the last twenty years I have lived on both the east and west coast as well as abroad. I grew up non-religious and would now consider myself to be spiritual, valuing nature and interconnectedness. I have experience as an educator, a crisis counselor, working on public policy and global health initiatives domestically and abroad, and working in refugee camps with asylum seekers. I am passionate about work that helps people at both the individual and collective level.
I am also a person who stutters (PWS) and as a therapist, I love working with people who stutter. It is something that I find is largely misunderstood by society and having a therapist who “gets it” can make all the difference.
My useless talent is never forgetting song lyrics and you can often find me petting a stranger's dog (with permission of course). When I am not working, I am often out in nature. I enjoy snowboarding, yoga, trail running, backpacking, photography and connecting with my community.
Whether we meet in session, or we never have the opportunity to meet at all, I want you to know that you matter. Your lived experience matters, your voice matters, and you deserve to live a full life where you feel that you can be your most authentic self.
If you are considering therapy with me but have questions, please feel free to email me at Jen.L@flourishtherapy.org. Fit between a client and therapist is so important and I will do my best to answer your questions as you figure out your best fit. Wishing you all the very best.
