Jess Van Natter, LCSW

Jess Van Natter (XE, XER, XEM, THEY, THEM) works remotely and is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), licensed in Utah and Idaho. Jess is an AFAB, Queer, Trans, lifelong athiest, eco-feminst, who was raised in a rural, indigent part of northern Utah.

I know that one size doesn’t fit all, but the interventions I’ve received training in are solution-focused therapy (SFT), brief psychodynamic therapy (BPT), Gottman relationship therapy, and seeking safety.

My greatest joy is helping people heal the emotional wounds from domestic violence, faith transitions, bullying, child abuse, and neglect. My approach is to be alongside you as you experience your greatest joys and pains. I aim to encourage internal playfulness and curiosity, help you unfold at your pace, help you re-author your life, and create a happy life on your terms.

JESS’ APPROACH TO LGBTQIA+ AFFIRMING CARE IS:

● PERFORMING TRAUMA AND DISCRIMINATION ASSESSMENTS TO EXPAND YOUR AWARENESS OF THE PAIN YOU

HAVE GONE THROUGH, AND HELP BUILD UP SELF-COMPASSION.

● ENCOURAGING CLIENT-ENGAGMENT IN QUEER COMMUNITY, AND WITH QUEER MEDIA, QUEER HISTORY, AND

QUEER THEORIESTS TO HELP EASE INTERNALIZED TRANSNEGATIVITY, AND HETEROSEXISM, WHILE AMPLIFYING

YOUR QUEER CONFIDENCE.

● ASSIST WITH PREPARING FOR MICROAGGRESSIONS, LESSENING THEIR IMPACT, AND IDENTIFYING A PLAN FOR

RESPONDING TO MICROAGGRESSIONS WITH DIGNITY.

● HELP FIND WAYS TO EXPRESS AND CELEBRATE YOUR QUEERNESS WHILE CONSIDERING YOUR SAFETY.
