Kalani Whitmore, Student Intern

Kalani (she/her) is in her second year of the Master of Social Work program at Utah Valley University. She is from Sandy, Utah, and can relate to the experience of growing up queer in the LDS-shaped culture of Utah.

In her interactions with clients, Kalani aims to create a hopeful and collaborative relationship, wherein clients determine the goals of therapy; she highly values the therapeutic relationship and is committed to “doing therapy” in a way that is specific to each individual client. Kalani has professional experience with substance use, trauma, autism, ADHD, and incarcerated individuals. Currently, Kalani is also a social work intern for the Department of Veterans Affairs, where she is on the Homeless Outreach team.

When not in school or at work, Kalani loves hiking, bird watching, and spending time with her wife.
