Kristin Culp, Student Intern

Hello! I’m Kristin (she/they), a graduate student in the Social Work masters program at the University of Utah. I am passionate about supporting and empowering individuals within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. I know how challenging it can be to navigate a cis hetero-normative society when you live outside of those limiting binaries. My goal is to create a safe, affirming space where you can comfortably explore your identity, navigate challenges, and work towards personal growth and resilience.

I approach therapy with a client-centered and trauma informed perspective, ensuring that your experiences and needs guide the work that is done together. In our sessions you can expect a collaborative and empathetic approach that takes your intersecting identities and unique experiences into account. Whether you’re navigating issues related to identity, relationships, or general life stressors, I am dedicated to offering compassionate and effective guidance. I will be using principles of Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and skills-based interventions like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). As I develop as a clinician, I will be seeking to expand my training in trauma work and other modalities like Internal Family Systems (IFS).

Prior to coming to Flourish, I have worked with survivors of domestic violence, those who experience severe and persistent mental illness, worked on rural community health initiatives, and food sustainability efforts. As a person, I value authenticity, curiosity, humor, and creating meaningful connections. Outside of therapy sessions, I enjoy having fun skiing, camping, creating art, going to concerts, and reading books at the park. Additionally, I am always looking for new ways to engage with and support the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

I’m excited to work with you and feel honored to be part of your journey toward well-being and self-discovery.
