Melissa Soper, Student Intern

Hello! I am Melissa Soper (she/her), a student intern in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling

(CMHC) program at Utah Valley University. I previously completed my undergraduate degree in

psychology at UVU, graduating in December 2022.

I am passionate about empowering youth and young adults as they navigate the complexities of their lives. My background includes supporting adolescents and young adults with executive function deficits in a residential treatment setting. I have also enjoyed co-directing the youth track at the Affirmation Conference for the past several years. My therapeutic approach is centered on mindfulness and empowering individuals to discover their inherent power and resilience. I believe therapy is a collaborative journey where challenges are navigated together, self-compassion is cultivated, and strength and healing emerge from within. Considering the unique needs of each individual, I utilize an integrative approach drawing from ACT, DBT, narrative therapy, and client-centered frameworks to foster growth and self-discovery.

Beyond my professional role, nature is my sanctuary. Whether trail running or simply finding peace in the mountains, nature inspires and rejuvenates me. I also love taking on the challenge of ultra-marathons and exploring the capabilities of my mind, body, and spirit. I find my greatest joy spending time with my wife and children, collecting moments of connection that anchor my life.
