Annie Mackay, Student Intern
Annie Mackay (They/She/Any) is a firm believer in the power of unconditional love and acceptance, and these two principles are central to healing. As a therapy intern, it is a privilege to nurture the individual's innate capacity to heal and come to recognize their intrinsic value, and see themselves as worthy, lovable, and whole, just as they are.
After Annie's initial education experience as a queer student at BYU, majoring in Journalism with the intention to raise attention to important causes as an investigative reporter, she was drawn to social work out of a desire to have a more active role in the collective healing of the LGBTQIA+ community.
As a second year student finishing their Masters in Social Work at Utah Valley University, they have previous experience working with LGBTQIA+ teens, and neurodiverse children and teens in a K-12 school setting. In this setting they used an eclectic approach drawing on multiple modalities and evidence-based practices, while primarily focusing on building a strong and affirming therapeutic rapport. Annie has also worked extensively with disabled adults in a higher education setting through their work with UVU's Accessibility Services Department, implementing a social-justice, intersectional, and disability affirming framework.
I'm excited to meet you and begin a healing journey with you through therapy centered on your unique and individual needs, values, interests, hopes, and goals.
